Like the Desert Misses the Rain...

This is another attempt to write poetry, a skill I lost after college romance. In loneliness and solitude I think about my ex-lover, not my girlfriend but lover. She scarred me good and I never fell in love again. A hopeless romantic one may say. Enjoy the poem, stop being judgmental, like you had great success with your romance!

I wander through the silent night,
Your absence dims the stars’ soft light.
Each breath I take feels hollow, bare,
A whisper lost in empty air.

I miss you like the desert’s plea,
For rain to set its spirit free.
My soul is parched, my heart undone,
It aches beneath a lonely sun.

Your laughter was my gentle breeze,
Your touch, the shade beneath the trees.
Now time moves slow, the hours strain,
I miss you like the desert misses rain.

Come back and let the skies release,
A storm of love, a flood of peace.
Until you’re here, I’ll dream again,
And miss you like the desert misses rain.
